I remember how kind they were and so good to us. I remember they put us on a horse and led it around! So exciting! We just had fun and we called them Uncle Amos and Aunt Lily, even those we were not related!.. They were good friends of my parents. I think they had met when they were all young people, but not sure. Shirley has a better memory than me!
Mom told me they met before Howard and olive were married, I think at the church in Laurel when Howard's parents had a farm up just a few miles from Amos and Liliy's farm. Mom says when she was born, Howard told Amos and Lily, "We have a girl for your boy" (to marry). Of course nobody told John or Marj that until after they were married!
This is so good. I would love to meet Lily and Amos.
Shirley and I always had such fun when we visited Amos and Lily on their farm. I didn't remember or realize she was an artist!
I would love to hear your memories of her!
The story, the names, the painting from spirit. You took me right there, Suzannna. Thank you.
Susan (Hebrew for Lily)
Thank you! I wasn't sure it would be interesting to anyone outside the family, so your comment is really heartening!
Thank you! I was told that our name, Susan/Suzanne meant Lily but not in what language.

Yes, I remember the story of my dad telling Lily and Amos that they had a girl for their son! It was amazing that that they did marry! Good memories!
